As a direct marketing tool, Facebook is fantastic for some businesses and a complete waste of time and money for others.
However, Facebook now has this amazing tracking system that you can take advantage of for less than $5 per day.
You can add a Facebook pixel (a tracking code) to your website and Facebook will then gather data on who has visited your website from all sources. So not just Facebook traffic, but Google traffic etc.
If your website is set up correctly, Facebook knows:
- What pages have been visited
- If the person has filled in a form
- If the person has purchased a product on your website
- They know their age group, their demographic and their location,
- They can even match these visitors to their interests and groups in Facebook.
When that tracking code has built up a small amount of data, you can create advertisements on Facebook that re-target the exact people who have visited your website and not bought from you. More on Facebook retargeting here
You can then set up advertising campaigns to be only shown to people who have visited your website before. You can create a promotion specifically for these people to get them back to your website.
